Chuño is a freeze-dried potato, one of the oldest foods in the world, which started in pre-Columbian America. In the ancient times, the mountain people of South America had to come up with creative ways to preserve their staple food: potato. In the high Andes, nights were frosty, but days could still be hot. Potatoes were exposed to very low temperatures at night, and then sundried during the day. Once dried, they could last for years.
Chuno Diner opened in 2007 in Dubai Knowledge Village. Our concept is inspired by this simple story of Andean chuño: traditional homemade food, creative menu, South American and Mexican flavors, casual dining atmosphere.
